Acupressure point chart of the abdominopelvic region

In this article we’ll discuss Acupressure Point T2, which is displayed in the acupressure chart image above. It’s an acupoint treated in Thai Massage, Ayurvedic Marma Massage and Yoga, and in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Taoist practices.

Mind that there are various ways of treating this acupoint, might it be through Acupressure Massage, Abdominal Massage, stretches, Yogic asanas, herbal compresses, acupuncture, and/or moxibustion, among other treatment modalities, which depends on the traditional medicine system used and the specialization of the practitioner or therapist.

Nevertheless, in each traditional medicine system the T2 Acupoint has slightly different therapeutic indications, while also being associated with specific Vital Life Force channels as known in each distinct system. In addition, you’ll find that — depending on the system (TCM or Yoga, for instance) — T2 is an integral part of sub-systems such as the Chakra system and Microcosmic Orbit system.

Acupoint T2 in Thai Massage is an acupressure point that lies along the trajectory of three Sib Sen Energy Lines, which are Sen Kitchanna, Sen Nanthakrawat, and the Sen Sumana Extension Line.

Th exact location of point T2, also called the Thai Bladder Acupoint, is located midway between the navel and perineum at the position of the urinary bladder to be accessed for treatment through the front side of the body (i.e. the abdominal area).

Thai Acupressure Massage treatment of T2 is therapeutically indicated for abdominal and hip pains, sacroiliac joint pains, constipation, erectile dysfunction, infertility, bladder problems, decreased libido, and in a more general sense for all issues of the urinary system.

In Yoga and Ayurveda, T2 is associated with Basti Marma (also written as Vasti Marma). In addition, it’s also the location associated with the second Chakra which is the Svadhishthana Chakra (also called Sacral Chakra). It’s thought to lie along the Kuhu Nadi Energy Channel.

Basti Marma is indicated for acupressure treatment of the muscular, urinary, and reproductive system. It’s also used to treat certain issues with the digestive system, such as excessive gas and bloating.

The Sacral Chakra is thought to govern creativity, confidence, pleasure, self-esteem, relationships, sensuality, sexuality, determination, independence, and fertility. Hence, it’s believed that working on the T2 area stimulates healthy function of the Sacral Chakra.

In TCM and Taoism, T2 seems to be associated with the so-called Hara Point (also known as the Sea of Qi, Qi Hai or Qihai), which is officially known as CV-6 on the Conception Vessel Meridian. Like acupoint T1, acupoint T2 is also associated with the Lower Dantian (Dantien), being part of the Taoist Microcosmic Orbit.

It’s therapeutically indicated for hernia, uterine bleeding, all types of menstrual issues, erectile dysfunction, internal organ prolapses, urinary system problems, abdominal distention, bloating, abdominal and genital pains, edema, poor digestion, constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, stroke, loss of consciousness, and general weakness of the muscles and body.

In addition, it’s also thought to be able to combat respiratory diseases, such as asthma and shortness of breath.
