Breaktrough Breathwork Meditation Explained

Breakthrough Breathwork Meditation was developed by Kris Kassidy, and combines music, massage, and energy work with verbal support to enable physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual breakthroughs.

Within Breakthrough sessions, physical movement and emotional release are encouraged to promote a deeper connection with your true being.

The process involves being guided during a sustained and controlled period of fully inhaling and exhaling, gradually intensifying the breathing pattern, leading to a rapid breathing rate. As a result, CO2 (Carbon dioxide) is dumped from the blood and lungs, and there is a decrease in the amount of O2 (Oxygen) one can take in, which is in fact a form of induced hyperventilation.

Subsequently, O2 levels in the brain decrease, taking pressure away from the pre-frontal Cortex area where — according to the Breakthrough Breathwork concept — much of our Ego resides.

As a result, the Ego then is bypassed, creating an opportunity to directly access deeper parts of our brain, and the subconscious and super-conscious mind, which can give us deeper insights in ourselves and the world, and a chance on healing emotional pains and trauma.

Other benefits associated with this Breathwork modality are relaxation to release stress, anxiety, and pent-up emotions, healing physical pain, more self-love and self-esteem, increased mental clarity, creativity, and productivity, and enhancement of the respiratory system.

According to Kris Kassidy, Breakthrough Breathwork Meditation differs from other breathing modalities in several ways, such as the unique way the pace of the breathing changes throughout the session, the customized use of music to guide you, the incorporation of intention, bodywork and energy work, and one’s openness to transformational energy.

Additionally, Breakthrough Breathwork is positioned as a modality that can complement and enhance massage, bodywork, chiropractic care, counseling, and psychotherapy.
