In fact, participating in Voice Therapy can be an important part of “transitioning” because one’s voice is a social signal to a person’s gender.

Thus, gender diverse people commonly engage in Voice Therapy in order to make their voices sound more typical of their gender, which increases the chances of being perceived or recognized as a person of a specific gender.

Voice Therapy may have as its goal feminization, neutralization, or masculinization, and additionally reduces instances of Gender Dysphoria and Gender Incongruence. In a more general sense, Voice Therapy seems to increase general wellbeing and health of transgender individuals or other gender diverse people.
