Insight Bodywork was developed by Barry Kapke (1955 – 2008), and integrates massage, movement, meditation, and mindfulness practices. Typically, a treatment session is carried out on the floor on a massage mat or mattress.

On the conceptual level, Insight Bodywork integrates both the Meridian system of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the Chakra/Nadi system of Ayurvedic Medicine.
The practical, hands-on techniques include Acupressure, Myofascial Techniques, joint mobilization, deep stretches, brushes, holds, shaking, rocking, swinging, and dropping, among others.
Yet, perhaps the most characteristic idea behind Insight Bodywork is its approach: one starts a massage session without a plan or agenda, and without using a fixed massage sequence, but rather by following one’s intuition and “what presents itself in the moment.” It’s a journey of discovery in which both the therapist and the receiver are involved in the exploration of “the territory.”
