Lingam Mapping is part of the Genital Mapping paradigm and is a navigation and discovery of the penis and related organs and body parts in order to find areas of numbness, contraction, pain, insensitivity, disconnection and tension on the physical but also on the emotional level.

The troublesome points or areas found are thought to be signs of some form of physical or emotional trauma, stress or anxiety. In fact, a kind of “map” is created from one’s inner world to find out what feels good, what feels not so good, what emotions are triggered where and how, why, and so on.

It’s an awareness exercise, or Somatic Therapy if one prefers, and a form of Genital De-Armouring to come to a deeper understanding and connection with oneself. It’s the start of a sexual healing process because all healing starts with being fully conscious of what’s “wrong” or what needs attention.

After the mapping process, a range of treatment modalities can come to help to resolve issues, such as Lingam Massage, Testicles Massage, Prostate Massage, Tantra Massage, Karsai Nei Tsang, Chi Nei Tsang, abdominal massages, and other genital massages or bodywork. Apart from manual work with the hands and fingers, tools and sex toys may also be used both in the Lingam Mapping process and the therapeutic work done afterwards.

Lingam Mapping can be carried out by oneself, but if a Lingam Mapping therapist is involved, they will — apart from hands-on mapping work — also talk with the client to try getting to the surface what issues are concerned both physically and mentally. In general, the therapist would be a trained professional such as a Somatic Sex Coach or Somatic Sex Educator.

The therapist will explain all about the Lingam, its function and its several relevant anatomical parts, such as the pelvic floor, testicles, urinary tract system, and the prostate. Afterwards — and with with mutual consent — a start will be made to, together with the therapist, physically explore the penis and other relevant areas such as the testicles, anus, abdomen, pelvic area, and the prostate.

In any case, Lingam Mapping carried out as a stand-alone modality can already help to release tensions in muscles and ligaments, release shame or guilt, increase sensitivity and awareness, educate about sexual anatomy, orgasms, sex and pleasure, and support in dealing better with a range of other things such as a man’s (or Lingam owner’s) intimate relationships, sexuality and genitals.
