In this post we give you an overview of Romiromi and Mirimiri massage and bodywork trainers in New Zealand (Aotearoa).
Romi Romi (RomiRomi) and Miri Miri (MiriMiri) are the ancient healing bodywork practices of the Maori people. The Maori are the indigenous Polynesian people of what now is called New Zealand.
A general distinction made between Mirimiri and Romiromi is that Mirimiri typically focuses more on tissues, muscles, tendons, bones, fluids and blood, while Romiromi is more focused on the internal body organs and systems.
Nontheless, Mirimiri and Romiromi massage and bodywork are often both applied in a Maori healing session, where Miri Miri usually precedes Romi Romi. Both modalities embrace a holistic approach which aims at restoring wellness to mind, emotions, body, and spirit.
