Tai Chi (Tai Chi Chuan) and Qigong (Chi Kung) are ancient Chinese energy and bodywork traditions.
In this post, you’ll find an overview of Qigong and Tai Chi trainers in Chiang Mai (Thailand) that welcome and facilitate foreign students. Mind that many training centers teach both modalities.
QiGong has its focus on cultivating, circulating, and harmonizing so-called Qi Life Force Energy. Tai Chi, related to Qigong and its principals, is however basically a martial art.
Some forms of Qigong do emphasize the physical characteristics and movements that are useful when practicing martial arts, but in general Qigong is not about defense and attack principles.
In Thailand, you’ll often see Qigong or Tai Chi practitioners in public parks early in the morning or around 5pm in the afternoon. There are quite a number of training centers across the country, and certainly also in Bangkok with it’s large Chinese community, but many schools are difficult to access (as for language issues) or simply unknown to foreigners.
In any case, below than an overview of Tai Chi and Qigong schools and trainers we’ve spotted in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
