In this post, we offer you an overview of Tantra practitioners and therapists who offer massage, bodywork, training and/or coaching services in the state of New Jersey.

In recent years, the difference between Tantric massage, bodywork, coaching and/or training has become rather ambiguous, meaning that Tantra based practices usually apply a somatic approach, in which education, training, coaching and hands-on bodywork go hand in hand. One could say that Tantra as a healing modality has strongly developed as a form of Somatic Sex Coaching and Somatic Sex Education.

Tantra practitioners may use a variety of Tantric methods and techniques to help their clients, which may include practices such as Tantric Breathwork, Tantra Massage (Yoni Massage or Lingam Massage), elements of Tantric Sex, Yogic postures and techniques, meditation, conscious awareness exercises, Tantric De-Armouring, Tantric rituals and ceremonies, Tantric concepts and theory, and so on.

As a rule, Tantric work applies a trauma-informed and holistic approach, simultaneously addressing the client’s mind, body, energy, spirit and sexuality, with an aim of going beyond the traditional categories of good and bad or wanted and unwanted. Tantra specifically aims at a non-duality approach, offering a path that can enable people to accept and embrace their whole being as loveable, worthwhile, sacred, and full of potential to happiness.

Nonetheless, it’s certainly true that an important objective is often to clear possible sexual inhibitions and traumas, but not as a goal in itself, but rather as a means to support people to completely accept their selves and self-expression in order to having a more authentic and loving way of experiencing themselves, others, their relationships, and their daily life.

As a result, it’s rather common that Tantric healing involves a combination of both treatments and training, for instance, Tantric bodywork may be used simultaneously as an opportunity of education, coaching and counseling by supporting receivers in enhancing their (sex) lives not only through Tantra informed treatments but also by teaching them how to use Tantric tools and techniques in their daily lives.

Yet, one should keep in mind that the actual type or form of Tantric coaching, training, and/or bodywork one receives depends on the individual Tantra therapist, that is, on their lineage, background, training, and on the (therapeutic) goal of a session or sequence of sessions.

Some Tantra practitioners initiate sessions that are spiritually focused, others are rather aimed at embracing and experiencing (sexual) pleasure, and others are perhaps explicitly focused at emotional and sexual trauma release, or at healing sexual disorders and dysfunctions, just to give you some examples.

Tantric coaching, training, and/or hands-on bodywork sessions may be offered to individuals, couples or groups in the form of workshops, classes, courses, or treatments, and depending on the work that needs to be done offerings may be online or live in-person, or a combination thereof.
