In the past couple of years, the difference between Tantric massage, bodywork, coaching and training courses has become rather thin, meaning that Tantra based practices typically use a somatic approach in which education, training, coaching and bodywork go hand in hand. One could say that Tantric healing has strongly developed as a form of Somatic Sex Coaching and Somatic Sex Education, although sex and sexuality is often only part of the equation.

In fact, Tantra practitioners may use a variety of Tantric techniques to help their clients, which may include Tantric Breathwork, Tantra Massage, specific elements of Tantric Sex, Yogic postures and techniques, meditation, Tantric De-Armouring, Tantric rituals and ceremonies, Tantric concepts and theory, and so on.

Characteristically, the therapeutic work offered uses a trauma-informed and holistic approach, simultaneously addressing the client’s mind, body, energy, spirit and sexuality, while trying to go beyond the traditional categories of good and bad or wanted and unwanted. Tantra aims at non-duality, offering a path that can enable people to embrace their whole being as loveable, worthwhile, and sacred.

Indeed, an important objective is often to clear possible sexual inhibitions and traumas, but not as a goal in itself, but rather as a means to support people to completely accept their selves and self-expression in order to having a more authentic and loving way of experiencing themselves and their daily life.

Hence, it’s not uncommon that Tantric healing involves a combination of both treatments and training, that is, Tantric bodywork becomes an opportunity of education, coaching and counseling, supporting receivers in enhancing their (sex) lives by not only receiving Tantra informed treatments but also by supporting them to use certain Tantric tools and techniques in their daily lives.

Keep in mind that the type or form of Tantric coaching, training, and/or bodywork one receives depends much on the individual Tantra therapist, that is, on their lineage, background, training, and on the (therapeutic) goal of a session (or sequence of sessions).

Some Tantra practitioners initiate sessions that are entirely spiritually focused, others are rather aimed at embracing and experiencing (sexual) pleasure, and others are perhaps explicitly focused at emotional and sexual trauma release or at healing sexual disorders and dysfunctions, just to give you some examples.

Tantric sessions may be offered to individuals, couples, or groups in the form of workshops, classes, courses, or treatments, and depending on the work that needs to be done offerings may be online or live in-person, or a combination thereof.
