Body De-Armoring through Tantric practices is a popular way of emotional, trauma, and sexual healing, and in this post we discuss what is involved and what we can expect in Tantric De-Armoring.

Goals and Health Benefits of Tantric De-Armoring

In most cases, Tantric De-Armoring will be aimed at sexual healing, notably emotional and trauma release in the sexual sphere, basically in order to overcome sexual inhibitions and possible sexual disorders, improve intimacy and relationship competencies, and to again find pleasure in sexual activity.

Hence, Tantric De-Armoring is often equated with Sexual De-Armoring. Nevertheless, Sexual De-Armoring isn’t the only realm in which Tantra can be of help. Tantra is a non-dual tradition focused on embracing all aspects of life — the “good” and the “bad” — and can be particularly helpful in bringing repressed and suppressed emotions to the surface (not only sexual emotions) and working with clients to help them accept and integrate all parts of their being into their daily lives.

Of course, Tantra works with “sexual energy” aka Kundalini Energy or Life Energy, but we need to see this in the right perspective. Sexual energy is considered creative energy, that is, creative Life Force Energy, and Tantric work aims at liberating our body and soul of physical and emotional blockages to enable the free flow of Life Force through our “system,” the latter including the physical body, the Chakras, the Nadi Energy Channels, and the subtle body.

In Tantra, it’s thought that the uninhibited flow of Life Force Energy (or Sexual Creative Energy, if you prefer) prevents but also heals physical and emotional ailments, while also enabling us to grow personally and spiritually, and living our lives with joy, pleasure, and full creativity.

Techniques Used in Tantric De-Armoring

The theory of Body Armoring and subsequent De-Armoring, in its modern form based on Wilhelm Reich’s concepts and work, claims that muscular tensions may reflect suppressed or repressed emotional “material.” These subconscious or unconscious emotions and patterns may come to the surface by easing physical tensions that are associated with those, which can give the receiver insights in their habitual attitudes and their approach of life, while also enabling them to flush negative emotional content out of their system.

Body De-Armoring in Tantra can be applied as external and/or internal bodywork, and may use a variety of Tantric techniques, such as Tantra Massage, Yoni Massage, Lingam Massage, Tantric Breathwork, visualizations, Prostate Massage, G-Spot Massage, Genital Mapping, meditation, rituals and ceremonies, mantras, and/or Yogic postures (Asanas).

As a whole, we could say that the techniques used in Tantric De-Armoring involve a range of “actions,” such as massage to give deep pressure and acupressure in order to ease muscular tensions, breathing techniques (Pranayamas) to relax body and mind, to improve energy flow, or to induce non-ordinary states of consciousness, Yogic postures and exercises to guide Life Force Energy or create bodily awareness, to give some examples.

During a De-Armoring treatment, receivers are urged to stay conscious and aware of what is going on in the body, while trying to see what comes up in the form of memories, beliefs, mental images, sensations, and feelings. As said at the start of this section, doing so can help them to come to emotional and trauma release, and subsequently get rid of obstructive patterns and attitudes in their lives.

As a rule, Sexual De-Armoring, or more specifically Genital De-Armoring, may receive quite some extra focus in Tantric De-Armoring sessions. Tantra is strong in working with clients on the sexual level, and the genitals typically hold sexual trauma and negative sexual emotions, which may express itself in pelvic or genital pains, numbness, Erectile Dysfunction (ED), low libido, or other sexual dysfunctions.
