Tao Yin Breathing is a set of Taoist breathing exercises and part of Tao Yin (also called Daoyin, Tao Yoga, Do-In, Chinese Yoga, or Taoist Neigong), which is a system of Taoist body and mind unifying exercises practiced to cultivate Jing Essence, and direct, cultivate, and refine (Qi) Life Force.
This Taoist Breathwork practice includes postures, meditation, and complex breathing patterns to strengthen, energize, relax, and/or cure our complete being, or — by contrast — keep body and mind healthy and prevent illness.
The various techniques typically direct Qi Life Energy to and through different parts of our body, which may include the abdominal and pelvic cavities, our back and chest area, head and brain, while targeting specific health issues and promoting proper function of internal organs.
Mind that Tao Yin Breathing is just one of several types of breathing techniques found in Taoist health and wellness practices, such as in Qigong, Tai Chi Chuan, Ovarian Breathing, and Testicle Breathing.
