In this post, you’ll find a video clip in which I demonstrate a short Thai Massage Full Body Warm-Up routine of about 5 minutes. It’s a small sample of our Thai Massage – Upper Body Stretches Video Workshop.
By the way, you can also download the demonstration with an accompanying booklet that briefly discusses Thai Massage, the underlying philosophy and concepts, and precautions and contraindications that need to be taken into account.
In any case, I typically use this type of massage sequence to prepare the body of the receiver for a Thai Massage stretching or “cracking” session. A little pre-work stimulates the blood circulation, warms-up the muscles, and mobilizes the joints of the receiver, and as such it prevents possible injuries.
The receiver is first lying on the belly and afterwards lying on the back. Apart from warming-up muscles, tendons, and joints it also lets the receiver relax and become acquainted with (the touch of) the practitioner. This builds trust for the actual session later on.
Although this routine only serves as a warm-up, you will already find some Thai Massage stretches in it, particularly for the lower back, some of those also opening-up the groins and hips.
