Tucking is a technique to hide the bulge of a penis and/or scrotum so that they are not or almost not visible through clothing. The practice of tucking is the opposite of packing, the latter being done to simulate the male genitals.
Tucking is typically carried out by men, transgender women, non-binary and gender non-conforming people, drag artists, or by those who for other reasons or desires would like a more neutral or flatter appearance of the genital area.
There are several techniques used to tuck, which include pulling the penis backwards in between the legs and pushing the testes up into the inguinal canal (typically supported by tape to keep things in place), using tight underwear or special underwear/boxers that flatten the area, placing the penis behind the waistband (called “uptucking”), or binding the genitals with tape along the perineum and/or between the buttocks.
Apart from possible discomfort there may be fertility risks involved to tucking such as reduced sperm count; as the testicles are typically placed closer to the body, the testicles increase in temperature which has a negative effect on sperm count. Tucking may sometimes also lead to testicular torsion, which would need immediate medical attention to restore the flow of blood to the testicle.
In general, it’s advised to not tuck longer than eight hours a day and also to skip tucking a day or more to give the genital area a break.
