Genital De-Armoring is a specialization within Sexual De-Armoring, which again is part of Body De-Armoring.
As a rule, in Genital De-Armoring the therapist or practitioner will work with the genitals and erogenous zones, which include the breasts, nipples, inner thighs, buttocks, anus, rectum, vagina, vulva, cervix, uterus, perineum, penis, prostate, and testicles.
Part of the work is internal and another part is external. Some genitals can be worked on both internally and/or externally, such as the prostate gland and uterus.
Mind that not all De-Armoring treatment modalities (or practitioners) work with the genitals, and of those who do, some only De-Armor externally.
Genital De-Armoring is about exploration and identification of areas in and around the genitals that are tensed, contracted, painful, or numb (the so-called Armor), and subsequently working on those areas to release tension and bring back normal sensitivity and (sexual) energy flow, which may be accompanied by strong emotional and/or trauma release and Catharsis.
In fact, the rationale behind Genital De-Armoring is the concept that emotional repression and/or suppression of traumatic experiences around sex and sexuality may have created an Armor in and around the genitals, which can result in a variety of sexual blockages, dysfunctions and disorders, and/or relationship and intimacy problems.
Typical deep emotional or traumatic issues around sexuality include experiences like shaming, rejection, difficult childbirth, sexual orientation and gender identity issues, unpleasant sexual intercourse, surgery, illness, sexual abuse and harassment, rape, or any other form of unwanted or unsatisfactory genital or sexual experience.
The goals of Genital De-Armoring, which are basically the same as those in Sexual De-Armoring, revolve around supporting people to get rid of sexual dysfunctions, inhibitions and trauma, and again experience joy, pleasure and satisfaction in sex, while feeling revitalized, healthier, and happy with oneself.
Full-fletched Genital De-Armoring therapists are often to be found in the Tantric realm, that is, those who practice Tantric bodywork that includes the Yoni or Lingam, practitioners within Somatic Sex Education and Sexological Bodywork, or practitioners specialized in bodywork that makes part of the Taoist Sexual Practices.
Techniques used in Genital De-Armoring may include Genital Mapping, massage, bodywork, breathwork, touch, pressure, acupressure, and/or scar tissue remediation, sometimes accompanied by using herbal compresses or certain sex toys such as Prostate Massagers or Yoni Wands.
