Bondage Therapy — part of BDSM practices — is one of the latest trends in the field of sensual erotic treatment modalities that’s promoted as therapy. However, mind that although associated with sex, practices like BDSM, Kink, and Fetish don’t necessarily have to involve sexual activity or penetration.
At any rate, bondage play — as a consensual practice between adults — needs the (vulnerable) participant (in this case the submissive side of the equation) to enter a state of complete surrender, trust, letting-go, and accepting “the situation.”
As such, it’s thought that bondage sessions can lead to increased confidence and communication abilities, better intimacy skills, reduction of anxiety and depression, increased personal exploration and development, catharsis and trauma release, and an improved understanding of the body and one’s inner self.
In addition, bondage activities can give the participant the means to accept their “darker side” and live their suppressed or repressed drives, fantasies, emotions, and wishes in a safe and conscious manner.
The bondage therapist will often also involve other methods and techniques in a session, which may include Taoist and Dark Tantric practices, Sound Healing, Hypnosis, Reiki, Breathwork, and/or Bioenergetics, to name some commonly used modalities.
Mind that nowadays almost any massage, bodywork, or alternative practice has become “therapy,” and notably in the sensual erotic domain it’s often used as a cover-up for happy ending or full service sexual practices. Hence, and perhaps superfluous to say, it needs a discerning mind and proper inquiry of the client to select the right therapist.
