During the process of menopause, women typically experience a gradual drop in estrogen hormone levels (until her menstrual periods stop permanently) with as a possible result (undesirable) physical changes to the vagina, vulva, and vaginal opening.
These changes can cause a variety of symptoms such as vaginal dryness, urinary tract infections, incontinence, bleeding, excessive discharge, burning sensations when peeing, trouble having an orgasm, experiencing abdominal, pelvic, and vaginal pains or irritations, or discomfort during sexual intercourse, which again can cause emotional inhibitions to having or enjoying sex.

In fact, many of the changes are due to lower estrogen levels, which may cause decreased blood flow in the genital region leading to circulatory problems and the conditions mentioned above.
As a remedy, many menopausal women start using vaginal lubricants or moisturizers, which can help against dryness, pains, or irritations. Some women may also start hormone treatment in the form of estrogen to counteract the unpleasant side effects of menopause.
In addition, Yoni Mapping and the tools and techniques used within this treatment practice, such as Yoni Massage, Womb Massage, Yoni Egg exercises, Pelvic Floor Exercises, Abdominal Massage, Pelvic Massage, and/or Pelvic Floor Massage, can support increasing the blood circulation in the area and hence structurally help alleviate the various discomforts such as pain or dryness during sexual intercourse.
Through Sex Education, Somatic Sex Coaching, Breathwork, and Talk Therapy, a Yoni Mapping therapist can also assist women in navigating the various emotional changes that can occur during or after menopause, such as crankiness, anger, anxiety, feelings of depression and sadness, low libido (low sex drive), fatigue, mood swings, and/or loss of confidence or self-esteem.
