Yoni Massage and Yoni De-Armoring both emerged within the Neo-Tantra and Somatic Sex Therapy domain and have several characteristics in common, but also certain differences. In this article, we’ll discuss what is involved in these treatment modalities, notably in relation to each other.

One of the most explicit similarities is that Yoni Massage is considered a form of De-Armoring — more specifically Sexual De-Armoring — being a modality that is positioned as a Tantric Massage treatment that can induce emotional and trauma release and resolve physical tensions, pains or numbness, specifically in the sexual and genital sphere.

Nevertheless, Yoni De-Armoring — which in a more limited sense is also called Vaginal De-Armoring — is always therapeutic work and only aimed at releasing sexual inhibitions and trauma and healing sexual dysfunctions, while Tantric Yoni Massage can have several goals.

That is, a Yoni Massage session may not necessarily be therapeutic in nature, but may also focus on giving a sensual erotic pleasure massage experience to the receiver, or by contrast being carried out for Tantric spiritual-energetic purposes geared towards personal development and spiritual attainment.

In addition, the focus of Yoni Massage is on all erogenous zones of a woman (not only the vagina and vulva) and perhaps more importantly — on a woman’s entire emotional-mental womanhood and wellbeing.

A Yoni Massage session can or may combine some or all of the aforementioned aspects (depending on the goal of a session and the competencies of the Tantra practitioner), including or excluding focused Yoni De-Armoring work.

Another thing to realize is that Yoni De-Armoring may also be carried out through other treatment modalities — not necessarily only through Yoni Massage. Think of practices such as Yoni Mapping, Tantric Breathwork, Karsai Nei Tsang, Sexological Bodywork, or by using the Yoni Wand or Yoni Egg, among other techniques.
